Eschwege

Twin city Eschwege (Hessen, Germany)

Mühlhausen and Eschwege are rightly proud of being the first two cities that completed a twinning agreement, after the fall of the Berlin Wall but before the reunification of Germany. The stated aim of both cities was to revive the historic commonalities of the neighbouring cities and the cultural, economic, and traditional links that had existed centuries before the wall was built. Along with the city of Munster, Eschwege provided the city of Mühlhausen with initial assistance with the administrative and organisational rebuilding after reunification. Favoured not least by the physical proximity of the two twin cities, cooperation between the cities has increased continuously since the establishment of the partnership.
