If you cycle along the Ilmtal cycle path, you will notice the impressive half-timbered building in Kleinhettstedt. It houses a flour mill from the 16th century. The mill has been owned by the Morgenroth family since 1732 and is now being run by the 9th generation.

The history of the flour mill from its beginnings to 1990 can still be seen in full in the old technical museum. Guided tours are possible by appointment.

From 1990 onwards, the mustard mill, which had already flourished around 1830, was revived. The technology was available and Friedrich Morgenroth discovered the recipes while rummaging through old files. Anyone who visits the mill today is amazed at how little space is actually needed for mustard production in the huge building. Since 1999 mustard has been produced again as it was in those days.

In the "mill shop" you have the possibility to taste and buy the assortment of Kleinhettstedt mustard.

Today there is a large holiday flat in the building of the old rye mill, which is especially suitable for families.

From the farm you can reach the restaurant "Zum Mühlenwirt" with excellent regional and national cuisine and of course dishes that include Kleinhettstedter mustard. Above the restaurant on the former hayloft the "Senfmühlentenne" has found its place. In a rustic atmosphere you can buy specialties of the region, florals and handicrafts and enjoy coffee and homemade cake.
