The Tourist Information team looks forward to your visit!

We are open daily during the high season and offer a customer-oriented service with advice. You will find us in the immediate vicinity of the town hall at Ratsstraße 20.

We are happy to arrange: guided tours of the town, trips on the Mühlhäuser Tschu Tschu train, organ demonstrations, themed tours, tour guides, overnight stays, catering services, guided walks, program suggestions for groups, sale of concert tickets, printed matter, souvenirs and much more.

Interesting facts about the Tourist Information:

Tourist Information Mühlhausen is part of Wirtschaftsbetriebe Mühlhausen GmbH and has various tasks. In addition to providing services for guests and citizens in the office, it produces brochures, develops new products and creates offers. Work in supra-regional tourist associations, such as the Thuringian Towns Association or the Bach Working Group, promotes marketing as a tourist location. Creating networks and working on joint projects is another area of activity.

We are a nature park partner of the Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal Nature Park and Brand ambassador for Thuringia.

Furthermore, the tourist information centre was assessed for accessibility in relation to ‘travel for all’.

Summer hustle and bustle in the half-timbered town - tips for the month of July 2024

Mühlhausen invites you to a varied summer programme in July 2024. The medieval imperial and historic half-timbered town offers picturesque alleyways and sights as well as numerous activities for young and old.

Event highlight:

Mühlhausen OUTDOOR: The summer open air on the Untermarkt from 19 to 21 July 2024 brings three days full of music and entertainment. On Friday, 19 July, the band "Juli" will rock the stage with their hits. The 90s party with the "Soundmietzen" and "Culture Beat" will take place on Saturday, 20 July. 1st German Bratwurst Museum: Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of bratwurst and learn all about the history, tradition and production of this popular Thuringian speciality. The medieval imperial town of Mühlhausen in Thuringia is steeped in history and is a gem with a historic town centre that is also an area monument. The nickname "muhlhousia turrita" - the tower-adorned Mühlhausen - originated as early as the Middle Ages. The name still applies today because no matter from which direction you approach the town the numerous church towers can be seen from afar.

 

The town's period of prosperity was in the Middle Ages and its stony witnesses still exist today. When exploring Mühlhausen, you can discover numerous Gothic churches, monuments, domestic architecture and half-timbered buildings as well as former mill sites. The entire historic town entre impresses and inspires at the same time.
