Interesting facts about the Tourist Information:

Tourist Information Mühlhausen is part of Wirtschaftsbetriebe Mühlhausen GmbH and has various tasks. In addition to providing services for guests and citizens in the office, it produces brochures, develops new products and creates offers. Work in supra-regional tourist associations, such as the Thuringian Towns Association or the Bach Working Group, promotes marketing as a tourist location. Creating networks and working on joint projects is another area of activity.

We are a nature park partner of the Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal Nature Park and Brand ambassador for Thuringia.

Furthermore, the tourist information centre was assessed for accessibility in relation to ‘travel for all’.

The town of Mühlhausen is looking forward to an eventful 2025, with the Thuringian state exhibition ‘freiheyt 1525 - 500 years of the Peasants’ War’ at its centre. From 26 April 2025 to 19 October 2025, the exhibition invites visitors to embark on an exciting journey into the past and explore the complex background, course and aftermath of the Peasants' War in Thuringia and beyond. A comprehensive supporting programme complements the exhibition and can be found at freiheit2025.muehlhausen.de.

But Mühlhausen has even more to offer in summer 2025. In addition to the state exhibition, visitors can look forward to an attractive programme of summer events that will fill the historic old town with life. Highlights include: the ‘Clarinet and Friends’ festival from 22 May 2025 to 25 May 2025, the Freiheitsfest 1525 from 29 May 2025 to 1 June 2025, the Mühlhausen Plum Blossom from 6 June 2025 to 8 June 2025, the Féte de la Musique on 21 June 2025 and the Mühlhausen Kleinkunstsommer from 25 June 2025 to 6 July 2025, to name but a few.

WELCOME TO THE MEDIEVAL IMPERIAL CITY

JOIN US ON AN ADVENTURE TOUR OF THIS HISTORIC TOWN.

The medieval imperial town of Mühlhausen in Thuringia is steeped in history and is a gem with a historic town centre that is also an area monument. The nickname "muhlhousia turrita" - the tower-adorned Mühlhausen - originated as early as the Middle Ages. The name still applies today because no matter from which direction you approach the town the numerous church towers can be seen from afar.

The town's period of prosperity was in the Middle Ages and its stony witnesses still exist today. When exploring Mühlhausen, you can discover numerous Gothic churches, monuments, domestic architecture and half-timbered buildings as well as former mill sites. The entire historic town entre impresses and inspires at the same time.
