The medieval town of Mühlhausen with its 11 Gothic churches and museums offers children's groups and families a variety of ways to get to know the town. The town can be discovered in a playful way with the actionbound tour ‘In Adalbert's footsteps through Mühlhausen’ or the brochure ‘Adalbert's letter salad’ (available free of charge from the Tourist Information Centre). The best view of the town is from the Raven Tower of the historic fortifications. The fortifications are 370 metres long and can be walked on, giving you an idea of how fortified Mühlhausen was in the Middle Ages. The Thuringian State Exhibition 2025 ‘freiheyt 1525 - 500 Years of Peasants' War’ in Mühlhausen/Thuringia offers a wide range of activities for young explorers and history buffs to immerse themselves in the period around 1525. The aim is to convey the theme of the Peasants' War and the living conditions of the time in an appealing and understandable way.
Skate and bike fans will find a large skate park in the Thuringia Funpark where they can put their skills to the test. Swimming fun and relaxation are guaranteed at the Thuringia thermal baths with their large bathing and sauna area or the outdoor pool at the Schwanenteich. The Bratwurst Museum with its attractive outdoor area offers opportunities for an entertaining stay. Hiking tours in the nearby city forest, to the sequoia trees there, or cycle tours on the Unstrut or Unstrut-Werra cycle paths are further tips for a stay in Mühlhausen. The team at Mühlhausen Tourist Information will be happy to advise you on excursion destinations in the region and in the Hainich National Park.
