Interesting facts about the Tourist Information:

Tourist Information Mühlhausen is part of Wirtschaftsbetriebe Mühlhausen GmbH and has various tasks. In addition to providing services for guests and citizens in the office, it produces brochures, develops new products and creates offers. Work in supra-regional tourist associations, such as the Thuringian Towns Association or the Bach Working Group, promotes marketing as a tourist location. Creating networks and working on joint projects is another area of activity.

We are a nature park partner of the Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal Nature Park and Brand ambassador for Thuringia.

Furthermore, the tourist information centre was assessed for accessibility in relation to ‘travel for all’.

Public mulled wine walk on 17 January 2026, at 2:30 p.m.

This year, the Mühlhausen Tourist Information Office is once again offering a guided mulled wine walk. It starts on 17 January 2026 at 2:30 p.m. at the Bratwurst Museum (Am Stadtwald 60). When purchasing a ticket at the Tourist Information Office, each guest will receive a thermos mug for the walk and four vouchers for refilling the mug with mulled wine. After the mugs have been filled for the first time, the tour guide, who accompanies the group on the hike to the city centre, will give a 20-minute insight into the city's history. To prepare for the long walk, the mugs will be refilled. During the hike, the tour guide will share interesting facts and lead the guests via another stop to the final destination, the Brauhaus zum Löwen brewery.

To get to the Bratwurst Museum, we recommend taking bus line 5 from the White House. The timetable can be found at www.regionalbus.de. The walk takes about 3 hours. The price for the tour, a thermos mug and 4 servings of mulled wine (0.2 litres each) is €29.90 per person.

Registration and ticket purchase for the mulled wine hike are required in advance at the Tourist Information Office (tel. 03601 404770). Participation and liability are at your own risk and are only possible for persons aged 18 and over.

WELCOME TO THE MEDIEVAL IMPERIAL CITY

JOIN US ON AN ADVENTURE TOUR OF THIS HISTORIC TOWN.

The medieval imperial town of Mühlhausen in Thuringia is steeped in history and is a gem with a historic town centre that is also an area monument. The nickname "muhlhousia turrita" - the tower-adorned Mühlhausen - originated as early as the Middle Ages. The name still applies today because no matter from which direction you approach the town the numerous church towers can be seen from afar.

The town's period of prosperity was in the Middle Ages and its stony witnesses still exist today. When exploring Mühlhausen, you can discover numerous Gothic churches, monuments, domestic architecture and half-timbered buildings as well as former mill sites. The entire historic town entre impresses and inspires at the same time.
