Discover the historic old town, the area around the Swan Pond and the Mühlhausen municipal forest with its redwood trees actively by bike and on foot

Well-developed cycle paths, such as the Unstrut Cycle Path and the Unstrut-Werra Cycle Path, encourage guests to linger in the medieval imperial town of Mühlhausen in Thuringia. The historic old town with its eleven medieval churches, town wall and lovingly restored buildings is well worth exploring. Day trippers can visit the town comfortably on foot without bikes and luggage. A safe place to leave your bike is available for a small fee in the middle of the old town at the "Brauhaus zum Löwen" hotel. Those who want to hike can go exploring in Mühlhausen's city forest. Along various paths, such as the Luther Trail, you can discover flora and fauna. The redwood trees that grow here are an attraction. An excursion to the Swan Pond with the nearby Popperode Fountain House is always worth a recommendation in the summer months. The Loccum-Volkenroda pilgrimage trail with its regional byway, the Klosterpfad, offers not only scenic beauty, but also encounters with two denominations as well as spirituality in four stages. The team at the local tourist information office will be happy to provide information on cycling and hiking routes and other activities.
