The historic old town of Mühlhausen with its lovingly restored half-timbered houses and town houses, eleven Gothic churches and museums offers many opportunities for discovery.
Tip number 1 is the walk along a section of the completely preserved city wall ring starting at the Inner Frauentor. The climb to the Rabenturm is rewarded with a panoramic view of the city. Under the motto "On the wall, on the lookout", families can discover a lot of history in a small space - city history from the Middle Ages to the present day. A visit that is worthwhile! The historical fortification is open daily from 10:00 to 17:00 and belongs to the Mühlhausen museums with other museum facilities.
Tip number 2 is the organ devotion in the parish church Divi Blasii, as the place of work of Johann Sebastian Bach. Every Wednesday at 12:00, between Pentecost and Thanksgiving, you can listen to the Schuke organ during a small organ devotion. The church is open daily, except Monday from 10:00 to 17:00.
Tip number 3 is a 1.5 -hour public guided tour through the historic old town of Mulhouse, which is always offered on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday and public holiday at 11:00. Meeting point is at the Tourist Information, Ratsstraße 20 in Mulhouse. The team of the Tourist Information is happy about a prior registration.
Tip number 4 is the Mühlhausen city forest. Along various paths, such as the Luther Trail, Hainichland Trail, Mühlhäuser Landgraben and the Loccum-Volkenroda Pilgrimage Trail, you can discover flora and fauna. The redwood trees growing here are an attraction. Well-developed bike paths, such as the Unstrutradweg and Unstrut-Werra-Radweg offer further opportunities to get active.
