guided pilgrimage on 17.08.2023 from Mühlhausen to Volkenroda Monastery

The pilgrimage route Loccum- Volkenroda is a supra-regional pilgrimage route. It leads for about 300 km through the Weser Mountains, the Vogler and the Solling as well as through the Eichsfeld and connects the monastery Loccum, near the lowlands of the Steinhude Sea, with its mother monastery Volkenroda near Mühlhausen in Thuringia, in the World Heritage region Wartburg Hainich.

A guided pilgrimage on a section of the pilgrimage trail Loccum- Volkenroda will take place on 17.08.2023, at 09:00 from the Marienkirche Mühlhausen. Pilgrimage guide Gudrun Laqua accompanies the pilgrims and interested people to the Volkenroda monastery (about 15 km). The tour is described by Ms. Laqua as follows: "From Mühlhausen we head towards Görmar, past the Martini Church with its striking yellow half-timbered tower. Along the Unstrut and Natter, past meadow orchards with the blooming Adonis roses to Kleingrabe to the St. Albanus church. Via the old monastery path, the Eselstieg, we finally arrive at Volkenroda Monastery, the end of the pilgrimage trail." Setting out on the trail in company is always a good alternative to organizing it yourself. Participation is free of charge. Registration is requested by 10.08.2023 at Tel. 0173 2376220.
