The association Städtetourismus in Thüringen e.V. is kicking off the golden autumn travel season with the campaign ‘Around the world in Thuringia’. Expressive images compare the most beautiful cities in Thuringia, including Mühlhausen, with world-famous destinations.
The campaign's motifs show with a wink how diverse and attractive Thuringia's cities are. The Ducal Museum in Gotha, for example, is architecturally reminiscent of Buckingham Palace in London. The Bach town of Arnstadt, with its town hall in the Dutch Renaissance style, symbolises springtime in Amsterdam. Nordhausen plays with the comparison of its famous double grain with Scottish whisky. And the fashion night in Apolda offers a surprising alternative to Milan Fashion Week.
The charming comparisons are intended to emphasise the attractiveness of Thuringia's cities and invite both locals and tourists to explore the treasures of Thuringia.
The campaign motifs are disseminated on social media under the unifying hashtag #inthueringenumdiewelt. In addition, postcards with motifs from all 19 member cities of the association have been produced and are available in tourist information centres.
‘City breaks are an important driver of tourism in Thuringia. With our new campaign, we want to show how much Thuringia has to offer in terms of scenery, history and culture,’ says Sebastian Keßler, Chairman of the Association for City Tourism in Thuringia.
Something else is important to the association's chairman: ‘Our cities stand for cosmopolitanism and diversity. We welcome travellers from all countries. We invite everyone to discover our beautiful cities - from A for Altenburg to W for Weimar - and be enchanted by the beauty of Thuringia.’
