The medieval imperial town of Mühlhausen with eleven churches, an almost completely preserved city wall ring and lovingly restored buildings is also worth a visit in the autumn months.
Mühlhausen's museums invite visitors with their diverse objects. The Historic Fortification is open until the end of October and offers an attractive panoramic view of Mühlhausen. The St. Marien| Müntzer Memorial Museum, the Kornmarktkirche Peasants' War Museum and the Cultural History Museum are open all year round. In the St. Marien| Müntzergedenkstätte Museum, the exhibition "Of Unicorns and Dragon Slayers" shows valuable altars and sculptures from the Middle Ages. The exhibition in the Kornmarktkirche provides information about the pre- and early Reformation as well as the Thuringian Peasants' War. Archaeology, Thuringian art and city history are the focus of the Cultural History Museum.
For sports or relaxation, we recommend a visit to the Thüringentherme's varied bathing and sauna facilities. A skating course in the Thuringia Funpark is available for young, active visitors. Here you can test your skills on a skateboard or scooter. The House of Escape promises an adventure where sharp wits and team spirit are called for.
