To mark the 340th birthday of Johann Sebastian Bach, the town of Mühlhausen invites you to a festive commemoration at the Bach memorial in front of the Divi Blasii church on 21 March 2025.
The event begins at 11 a.m. and will be accompanied by music from the Johann Sebastian Bach District Music School and district cantor Oliver Stechbart. For the first time, master confectioner Torsten Schikore will also be present and, together with actors from the 3K theatre workshop, will be handing out his specially created ‘Bach treats’ to the guests. ‘If Bach were alive today, Torsten Schikore would certainly be his house and court confectioner,’ say the organisers. Konditorei Schikore celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2025 - another special anniversary in Mühlhausen.
In addition to the celebration, a special guided tour entitled ‘Bach in Mühlhausen’ offers interested parties the opportunity to find out more about the composer's time in the town. The tour starts at 2.00 pm at the Tourist Information Centre (Ratsstraße 20), registration is required by calling 03601 40 47 70.
In addition, the Divi Blasii church, where Bach once worked as an organist, will be open to visitors on 21 March 2025 from 10 am to 4 pm.
