Our path towards sustainable tourism in Mühlhausen
An unforgettable stay goes hand in hand with a responsibility towards nature, culture and the local community.
We bring sustainability to life in our day-to-day tourism operations through three key pillars: by promoting regional products and selling them at our office (examples: Mühlhäuser plum jam | products from Seeber butchers | Altenburg mustard | Hainich tinned goods | Mühlhäuser honey and many more), the resource-efficient optimisation of our own service operations (e.g. through a digital booking system for guided tours) and as a certified nature park partner of the Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal Nature Park.
The Mühlhausen Tourist Information Centre is a certified nature park partner
The Mühlhausen Tourist Information Centre is an official partner of the Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal Nature Park. This certification is awarded to regional businesses and institutions that have demonstrated a commitment to protecting the cultural landscape, preserving biodiversity and promoting sustainable, high-quality tourism in the region.
As a certified partner, we are committed to adhering to clearly defined quality and environmental standards, which are regularly reviewed by the nature park administration.
What does this mean for you as a visitor?
Verified regional focus: We provide you with tailored offers, experiences and products from local producers and partner businesses that also meet the nature park’s criteria.
Expert advice: Our team receives regular training on the nature park’s natural, cultural and environmental topics. We offer you in-depth information on eco-friendly activities, walks and cycle tours in the region.
Local resource conservation: In our day-to-day operations at the Tourist Information Centre, we implement specific measures to reduce waste, digitise information materials and use resources sparingly.
By visiting us and making use of our regional offerings, you are directly supporting the conservation and sustainable development of the unique natural and cultural landscape between Eichsfeld, Hainich and the Werra Valley.
