Hainich National Park

Embedded in a rich cultural landscape, the Hainich National Park offers far more than primeval forests and rare animal species. Centrally located in Germany, the Hainich - unique for a national park - is surrounded by a cultural environment that offers "pure" history with towns such as Bad Langensalza, Eisenach or Mühlhausen and that has also left its mark on the Hainich itself. Here the visitor can experience what "nature, let nature be" means: fascinating forest pictures in one of the most pristine forests in Germany, a piece of unused wilderness, with rare species such as the wildcat, seven species of woodpecker and numerous beetles and fungi. The special highlight is the treetop path on which you can get to know the primeval forest from a completely different perspective. Biking and hiking trails, adventure paths, exhibitions and a rich cultural environment invite you to visit at any time of the year.
