St. Cyriakus Village Church in Höngeda

The church of St. Cyriakus is located in the Mühlhausen district of Höngeda, elevated on a hill. In the immediate vicinity of the imperial city of Mühlhausen, Höngeda was a strategic location in the Unstrut floodplain. The church functioned as a fortified church and outpost for the Mühlhausen moat and offered protection from people and nature. As a fortified church and watchtower, it is located in the centre of the village and is visible from far away due to its high tower. Later it was used exclusively as a place of worship.

The church is Protestant and is cared for by the church district of Mühlhausen. Church services are held here regularly.
