My personal tip for your visit:

My special tip is a visit to the Jakobikirche - church outside, modern library inside. A surprising sight awaits you when you enter! Let yourself be fascinated and explore the different areas, e.g. the archaeological windows in the floor, the sacristy or each individual floor with its special features. A visit is definitely worthwhile!

My personal tip for your visit:

The small tanners' quarter in the heart of the old town is definitely worth a visit. Narrow alleys, small watercourses and houses with dry floors typical of the tanning trade make this quarter a very special gem. You can reach the tanners' quarter via Kuttelgasse, which branches off from Linsenstraße.

My personal tip for your visit:

The area around the Swan Pond is always worth a trip. Here, children can use the playgrounds or you can take a walk to the Popperode fountain house and walk around the lake. In the summer months, the local open-air swimming pool invites you to have fun. A camping site with camper van pitches is available for guests.

My personal tip for your visit:

Not only the Unstrut cycle path invites you to cycle tours in and around Mühlhausen. One of my favourite routes leads from the centre of Mühlhausen via the small village of Felchta and then on paved paths through fields and meadows to the Vogtei, more precisely to the geographical centre of Germany and the Opfermoor, a Germanic settlement. Some pubs along the way or in Oberdorla invite you to have a snack and a cool bike drink.

My personal tip for your visit:

The Historic Town Hall is a must-see. Located in the centre of the city, you can admire the different architectural styles of various eras from the outside. A wide staircase with colourful glass windows leads to the town hall. The colourful barrel vault and a large mural are impressive. When you look into the council chamber or the old chancellery, you can literally feel the history.

My personal tip for your visit:

The Popperöder Quelle is a very special place for me. Here you can experience culture and nature. The Popperöder Quelle is especially worth a visit during the fountain festival. Mühlhausen primary school pupils parade to the spring festively decorated and honour it with bouquets of flowers. In summer and winter, you can take a nice walk from here to the Swan Pond or the city forest.

My personal tip for your visit:

Personally, I am always drawn to the Werratal in my free time. The Werra Valley with Creuzburg and Treffurt are particularly popular destinations. A hike to the Heldrastein or a tour by bike on the Werra cycle path are well worthwhile.
