WELCOME TO THE MEDIEVAL IMPERIAL TOWN

Mühlhausen is known as "Muhlhusia turrita", the tower-adorned Mühlhausen with once 59 towers on churches and the town wall. Eleven medieval churches and a preserved inner town wall ring with numerous defence towers allow visitors to experience the tower-adorned Mühlhausen of modern times. Not only sacred rooms await them, but also the unique secular use of the church buildings, for example as a town library, a museum or theatre stage. Red street signs lead attentive visitors through the old town which is the second largest area monument in Thueringia. In addition to the many churches and museums, visitors can discover caringly restored half-timbered houses and town houses, special historic monuments and former mills.
